In the pantheon of motorsport, few names resonate with the same electric intensity as Ayrton Senna. Fiercely competitive and relentless in his pursuit of perfection, Senna built a legacy as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport.
His move to Team Lotus in 1985 brought about a golden era of racing. Ultimately his race victories included 41 Grand Prix wins, 65 pole positions, and 19 fastest laps. Some of Senna's most memorable performances were in the innovative yellow and blue Lotus 99T.
Senna's first win at Monaco was with that car. There he earned the title, 'King of Monaco', and would go on to win 6 times, 8 podiums and 5 poles over just 10 races. Later in his career Senna would perform the finest qualifying lap in the history of the sport at that same track, though with a different vehicle.
Senna's technical prowess was also something to be admired. He was lauded by engineers who claimed his insight into his car's performance to be remarkably specific and instrumental in the evolution of F1. In '87, Senna took the helm of the Lotus 99T, touting an advanced active suspension system that optimized handling and performance.
His continued triumphs said it all; Senna had become a legend. His insatiable perfectionism and daring spirit defined an entire generation of F1. To this day, Ayrton Senna is considered across the world to be one of the most iconic Formula 1 drivers to have ever lived.
Charge through the tracks to channel your inner Senna skills with the AFX Limited Edition Lotus 99T.
