Purple Passion draws its styling inspiration from heavily customized early-1950s Mercury coupes, with a chopped roofline, rounded fenders, low stance, elongated rear bodywork, and a dramatic custom grille treatment. The smooth body surfaces and exaggerated proportions give the casting a traditional lead-sled and custom-car appearance while retaining the distinctive Hot Wheels styling created by designer Larry Wood.
