About This Item
Hot Wheels Hirohata Merc Rod Squad 5/5 #143/250 is the metalflake seafoam green 2024 debut version of this classic custom-inspired Hot Wheels casting. Product code HRY69-N9C0H identifies the packaged example shown here. The model features a seafoam green body with silver side trim, fender badge and headlight detailing, a dark teal lower section, clear windows, chrome-colored interior components, and whitewall-style wheels that reinforce its period custom-car appearance.
The Hirohata Merc is based on the famous custom 1951 Mercury Club Coupe created by Barris Customs for Bob Hirohata. Hot Wheels designer Brendon Vetuskey translated the distinctive chopped and radically customized Mercury into this 1/64-scale casting for the 2024 Rod Squad series. The low roofline, flowing fenders, smoothed bodywork, rear wheel skirts, pronounced chrome-style trim, and lowered stance reflect the landmark custom-car styling associated with the original Hirohata Mercury. This release is numbered 143 of 250 in the 2024 Hot Wheels mainline and 5 of 5 within Rod Squad.

Why Collect This Model
The Hirohata Merc represents one of the best-known styles from the golden age of American custom-car culture. Its chopped roof, dramatically lowered stance, smooth body treatment, rear wheel skirts, period-inspired trim, and seafoam green finish give the casting a distinctly traditional custom appearance. As the first-year 2024 Hot Wheels version of the Hirohata Merc, this Rod Squad release is particularly relevant to collectors of Mercury vehicles, Barris-style customs, classic American customs, first-year Hot Wheels castings, and historically significant custom-car designs.
